Measuring Basics
Blinds are Inside or Outside Mount Only. Inside measurements represent the exact window opening size from which deductions must be taken to fit the blind inside. Outside measurements represent the exact blind size needed.
Use a steel tape measure. Measure to the nearest 1/8th of an inch.
INSIDE MOUNT
Measure the width of opening at top, middle, and bottom, and use the SMALLEST measurement when ordering.
Measure the height of window opening on left, center, and right, using the SMALLEST measurement for Verticals, and use the LARGEST measurement for Horizontals.
The minimum recess space required for an inside mount is 2 1/2" for verticals and 1" for mini blinds.
OUTSIDE MOUNT
Measure the width and height of the window. A 3" overlap on each end is customary, but you may specify any length greater or less than this.
Specify if spacers might be needed to allow a 1/4" extension in order to clear moldings, etc.
